Perhaps Australia’s best-known natural wonder, Uluru rises out majestically from the arid lowlands surrounding it and cuts an unforgettable sight. After arriving and settling into your hotel, you’ll learn all about the area at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre before exploring some of the sacred sites in the vicinity, including ancient Aboriginal rock art. You’ll end the day perfectly, glass of wine in hand, as the setting sun casts Uluru – also known as Ayers Rock - in a spectacular amber glow.
The effect is different but no less impressive at sunrise, which you’ll get to enjoy before heading on a walk to the nearby Valley of Winds and its Mars-like terrain. By nightfall you’ll be ready for your Sounds of Silence Dinner under a star-filled sky as the hypnotic sound of a didgeridoo fills the air.
At Alice Springs, enjoy the Town Like Alice Tour, which includes seeing how children in the region are remote-schooled by radio, then call at the Royal Flying Doctors’ Service.
On the Kakadu and Katherine Tour you’ll really get to immerse yourself in the country’s wilder side. The Kakadu National Park is home to saltwater crocodiles and hundreds of other species, while the Warradjan Cultural Centre provides an insight into the practices of the local Bininj people.
Finally, after exploring the delights of Darwin you’ll visit Litchfield National Park, home to picturesque waterfalls including Florence and Tolmer, with its colonies of orange horseshoe bats

Uluru
Visiting Uluru at dawn or dusk is a spellbinding experience. Explore its base, where a number of sacred spots will give you an idea of its huge significance to the Aboriginal people of the area.
Your Itinerary
Fly to Ayers Rock, the site of Uluru, one of Australia’s most famous natural sights and a place sacred to the Aboriginal people of the region. After arriving and settling into your hotel, you’ll learn all about the area at the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre before exploring the ancient Aboriginal rock art found in the area. As the setting sun casts Uluru – also known as Ayers Rock - in a spectacular amber glow, you’ll finish your first day here in a magical setting.
After rising to see the majestic sights of Uluru at sunrise, you’ll venture out to the Mars-like Valley of Winds and its ubiquitous red rocks. Return in time for your Sounds of Silence Dinner where you’ll dine on local delicacies and wine under a star-filled sky. Relax to the gentle sound of a didgeridoo as a ‘star talker’ shares his knowledge of the night sky – an enchanting experience.
Start the day by seeing British artist Bruce Munro’s breathtakingly beautiful, solar-powered Field of Light installation near Uluru. Made up of 50,000 hand-crafted spheres of light, it’s a magical sight that perfectly complements its dramatic surroundings. You’ll then fly to the quintessential Outback town of Alice Springs.
There’s nowhere quite like the remote town of Alice Springs in the sparsely populated Northern Territory. Find out what life is really like on the fascinating Town Like Alice Tour. This includes seeing how children in the region are remote-schooled by radio, as well as visits to the historic Telegraph Station and the operational base of the Royal Flying Doctors’ Service. At the reptile centre you can if you wish, handle some of the native species, and the tour concludes with a trip up to Anzac Hill for a panoramic view of the area.
The sprawling Kakadu National Park is home to lurking saltwater crocodiles and hundreds of other species, including bandicoots, pig-nosed turtles and wallabies. You’ll also come across termite mounds and waterfalls that plunge into deep blue pools. Here, you’ll really get to immerse yourself in the country’s wilder side.
Transfer to the northern coastal town of Darwin and embark on a cruise down the crocodile-filled Adelaide River. You’ll then enter the Kakadu National Park where you’ll get to learn about Aboriginal traditions at the Bowali Visitor Centre. Continue through Ubirr and displays ancient rock art, ascending to a point where you’ll be rewarded with gorgeous views of Kakadu, home to a staggering variety of flora and fauna.
This morning head for the Nourlangie rock art site, an ancient place of refuge and shelter for the local indigenous people, and learn about the traditions of the Bininj People at the Warradjan Cultural Centre. Before arriving in Katherine, stop at the idyllic Edith Falls – known locally as Leliyn. A serene and beautiful site with a pool at its base that you can swim in.
After a morning cruise through Katherine Gorge, carved through billion-year-old sandstone and home to freshwater crocodiles, you’ll pay a visit to the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre. Here you could purchase traditional handicraft made by the local Jawoyn people. You’ll then return to Darwin stopping at the old gold-mining town of Pine Creek, once home to around fifteen mines, and Adelaide River War Cemetery.
This vast national park, named after an early Australian pioneer and gold miner, features a treasure trove of natural wonders, including several scenic waterfalls. Tolmer Falls is one of the most popular due to its colonies of ghost and orange horseshoe bats. The pillar-like termite mounds are another eye-catching feature. You’ll also find the Howard Springs Nature Park in this area, where you can feed barramundi and turtles.
