Welcome on board the Indian Pacific
Experience one of the few truly transcontinental rail journeys in the world with a voyage on board the Indian Pacific service, which travels across the breadth of southern Australia in incomparable style. Part of Journey Beyond Rail Expeditions, the Indian Pacific speeds from coast to coast on a storied journey that follows in the footsteps of bush pioneers, gold rush greed, and famous adventurers who forged to discover the barren natural beauty of Australia’s famously unforgiving Outback.
The dream of a transcontinental rail service began in the 1890s, but it was not until 1969 that an uninterrupted rail track linked the Indian Ocean in the west to the Pacific Ocean in the east. The train’s first full transcontinental journey took place on 23 February 1970, when more than 10,000 people welcome the historic train to the city of Perth. Today, the 774-metre-long train travels the 4,350 kilometres between and Perth and Sydney in approximately 65 hours. It is instantly recognisable by its bold wedge-tailed eagle emblem.

Today you’ll embark the elegant Indian Pacific in East Perth. As you step on board, you’ll be greeted by welcoming staff and the group of actors that will join you for your murder mystery themed cross-country adventure. You’ll be given a special “Murder Mystery” box and will have the afternoon to get to know the actors on board before they join you for dinner and set the scene for the murderous behaviour that is about to ensue! As the views transform before your eyes, get ready for your first Off Train Experience in the wild west town of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Today you’ll endeavour to discover “Whodunnit?” and relish a stop in barren Cook
Waking to the vast horizons and blue skies of the Nullarbor Plain, you’ll be alerted to the news that deadly goings have taken place overnight. After a leisurely breakfast, you'll be informed of the murder mystery challenges that await today and will step off the train for a short stop in Cook. Once a bustling railway community, now effectively a ghost town, Cook provides a new meaning to the expression "middle of nowhere". Its eerie surroundings present the perfect backdrop for anyone with a motive for murder… Later this evening you’ll enjoy a theatrical dining experience giving you an opportunity to play detective one final time, naming your prime suspect before the killer is unmasked!

The winners of your fascinating murder mystery event will be announced before enjoying an Off Train Experience in Adelaide

The cast will depart, and you’ll enjoy an entertaining stop in the beautifully designed Adelaide, renowned for arts festivals, pop-up bars, and laneway restaurants.
