From here, you’ll board the majestic Ghan for your journey south through the bewitching landscapes of the inhospitable Australian Outback. Often described as a ‘national treasure’, The Ghan offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience, following the tracks of pioneering explorers through the red heart of Australia, passing through parts of the great continent that most others cannot reach. Wind through the MacDonnell Ranges’ rusty red hues and the charms of the South Australian plains, as you tuck into gourmet meals prepared by professional chefs, using locally sourced ingredients. Your epic rail journey ends in the balmy, Northern Territory capital of Darwin where you’ll enjoy a hotel stay. Relish the opportunity to explore some of the city’s incredible attractions during a sightseeing tour. Come evening, as the sun begins to set, you’ll transfer to the Stokes Hill Wharf, for your Charles Darwin sunset cruise around the harbour. As you sail through the serene waters, drink in the mesmerising array of colours dancing across the waves and tuck into a sumptuous Northern Territory-style buffet dinner.

From here, you’ll continue your tour with a transfer to Kakadu National Park, an impressive biodiverse nature reserve in Australia’s Northern Territory. Covering nearly 20,000 square kilometres, this sprawling reserve is a World Heritage listing famous for both its cultural and natural values. With its rugged terrain of lush wetlands, enchanting rivers and mystical sandstone escarpments, the park is home to around 2,000 plant species and wildlife including saltwater crocodiles and turtles. It’s also where you’ll find striking Aboriginal rock art that dates back to prehistoric times.

Kakadu National Park

This sprawling biodiverse nature reserve, located in the heart of Australia’s Northern Territory, is the largest national park in the country. Following your Adelaide stay, board the legendary Ghan for your two-night journey through the Australian Outback. Friendly staff will lead you to your comfortable private cabin where you'll be able to settle in and admire the view outside your window begins its smooth and spectacular transformation. Before long some of the oldest rock formations in the world, the Flinders Ranges, come into view.
